Travel in Dubai
There are many options to getting around in Dubai. Taxis are reasonably priced and can be found all over the city at any time of day. The official cream colour taxis are your best bet, as they are generally much cheaper than the privately owned taxis.
Dubai also has a good bus service, with buses available to destinations all over the United Arab Emirates at regular intervals throughout the day. The two main bus stations in Dubai are the Gold Souq Market and the Bur Dubai Station.
If you are planning on staying around Dubai City, walking is always a good alternative. There are promenades, or ‘Dubai Corniche’ on a great number of locations along the Dubai Creek. The Dubai Corniche is a great walking area with some fantastic views of the Creek and the city.
This is a very popular spot for families on the weekends, so if you want a peaceful moment, you are better off doing it during the week. There are currently three locations where you can cross the Dubai Creek, which are the Al Garhoud Bridge, the Al Makthoum Bridge and the Al Shindagha. You can also cross the Dubai Creek by ‘Abra’, or the local water taxi.
These can be found all along the creek in Dubai, and they can take you anywhere up and down the Creek. The Abras is a great form of transport with some fantastic views, and definitely worth taking.
